Indications:
Toxic, sensitizing; blood is the preferred spcimen to diagnose cadmium toxicity. Carcinogen, can cause osteoporosis. Poorly handled by the kidney, may cause renal tubular damage.
Patient Instructions:
Patients are advised to avoid fish and seafish consumption for 5-7 days before providing a urine sample forthis test as these foods have been shown to temporarily increase urine toxic metal levels.
