Indicans | | Indications: | Indicans are a measure of the efficiency of protein digestion. Ineffective digestion of protein is typically the result of one or more of the following: overgrowth of harmful bacteria that feed off protein before it can be digested, insufficient HCL and/or protease enzymes, malabsorption, parastitic or fungal infections and food reactions.
Indicans are a metabolic byproduct (indol) of the action of intestinal bacteria on the amino acid tryptophan. The excretion of indols reflects bacterial activity in the small and large intestines.
