Glutathione (serum)

[Gold top tube (SST), sample must reach the laboratory within 24 hours]

£18.00

RBC Glutathione

(Download datasheet)

[Green top heparin tube, sample must reach laboratory within 24 hours]

£18.00

Glutathione-S-Transferase

[Gold top tube (SST), sample must reach the laboratory within 24 hours]

£22.00

RBC Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH-Px) - functional test for selenium status

(Download datasheet)

[Green top heparin tube, sample must reach laboratory within 24 hours]

£21.00

RBC Glutathione Reductase (GSHr)  [can also be measured in plasma if requested]

(Download datasheet)

[Green top heparin tube, sample must reach laboratory within 24 hours]

£21.00

Glycosylated Haemoglobin (HbA1)

[Lavender top EDTA tube]

£18.00

Haemoglobin

[Lavender top EDTA tube]

£9.00

Histamine

[Green top heparin tube]

£25.00

Homocysteine (plasma)

At raised levels this amino acid has been shown to be a risk factor for coronary heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease.  Levels are influenced by diet, and in some cases genetic factors.  B vitamin supplementation reduces homocysteine levels.

(Download datasheet)

[EDTA - specially prepared tube available on request for postal samples]

£40.00

Indicans (qualitative)

[Early morning urine sample]

£13.00

Iron and total iron binding capacity

[Gold top tube (SST)]

£18.00

Total iron binding capacity

[Gold top tube (SST), Note: Sample should be taken without venous stasis]

£11.00

Kryptopyrroles (semi-quantitative)

(Download datasheet)

Note: Add an eighth of a teaspoon of ascorbic acid to the urine sample as a preservative.

[Mid-stream urine sample - preferably collected in the afternoon or evening]

£14.00

Serum Paraoxonase

Serum paraoxonase (PON-1) is an antioxidant enzyme whose activity is associated with a decreased atherosclerosis risk; its measurement may therefore give useful information as to a subject’s cardiovascular risk. Since PON-1 is induced in oxidative stress, careful assessment of its serum activity is indicative of the subject’s ability to metabolise organophosphates and other xenobiotics.

(Download datasheet)

[Green top heparin tube or Gold top tube (SST)]

£21.00

RBC peroxide fragility (H2O2) - functional test for vitamin E status.

Sulphites - functional test for molybdenum status

[Early morning urine sample]

£13.00

Superoxide Dismutase (RBC) - an important antioxidant enzyme and functional test for copper status. (Download datasheet)

Why measure superoxide dismutase?

[Green top heparin tube]

£23.00

£67.00

Zinc challenge tests:

1.5 hour (2 samples)

[Kit required form the laboratory, no food from 10pm the previous evening]

£23.00

3.0 hour (7 samples)

[Kit required from the laboratory, no food from 10pm the previous evening]

£46.00

Lactose Absorption Test (see also breath hydrogen test)

[Kit required from the laboratory, no food from midnight the previous evening]

£41.00

D-Xylose Absorption Test

[Kit required from the laboratory, no food from 10pm the previous evening]

£23.00

Magnesium Loading/Retention Test

A 24-hour urine magnesium level is measured, before and after an intramuscular magnesium load. There is an increased retention of magnesium when a deficiency exists.

The patient brings the first 24-hour urine sample to the laboratory, has the magnesium injection adn then proceeds to collect the second 24-hour urine sample.

[Kit required from the laboratory]

£30.00
