Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)


Indications:

Deficiency most frequently results from inadequate diet, especially in the elderly, and may give rise to skin and mucosal heamorrhage, bruising, and anaemia. Deficiency may also occur in chronic inflammatory conditions and some drugs (especially prednisone) may increase the requirement for the vitamin.

Patient Instructions:

No vitamin C containing supplements for 24 hours prior to testing.
