Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)


Indications:

Raised values are found in hypothroidism due to primary thyroid failure. This test is a sensitive index of hypothyroidism and may be raised before thyroxine is abnormally low. Low levels are found in hyperthyroidism/thyrotoxicosis. The test is sufficently sensitive to indicate hypethyroidism, when levels below 0.2 mU/1 are found.
