Indications: | 60 to 75% of the total cholesterol is esterified with long-chain fatty acids. The individual cholesterol esters are the major lipids in LDL and HDL.
The distribution of the fatty acids is measured in the cholesterol fraction of a fasting serum sample. In a second gas-chromatography run the individual esters are separated to permit the identification of cis and trans fatty acids. Trans fatty acids are treated much more like saturated fats and they have adverse effects on essential fatty acid metabolism. | Sample Requirements: | Gold (SST) | Postal Samples Acceptable: | Yes | For further details please contact the laboratory at: lab@xxxxbiolab.co.uk
