Cholesterol

Indications:

Increased in primary hyperlipdaemia especially of types Ila, IIb, and III, also in obstructive jaundice, alcoholic hepatitis, nephrotic syndrome and myxoedema. Elevationis also seen in severe cases of type IV hyperlipidaemia. Decreased in hyperthyroidism, pernicious anaemia, malnutrition and abetalipoproteinaemia. Non-fasting state has little effect on values.
